We are a 24-hour Casualty situated in the CBD @ 374 Schoeman Street, we have an ambulance bay and there is parking available in the street or alternatively at Interpark on the 1st or 2nd floors.
Our unit is staffed with experienced registered nurses and a permanent Casualty doctor namely Dr Amanda Makhubela weekdays and sessional doctors after hours.
When coming to Casualty we need the following documentation:
- Medical aid card or proof of membership (no older than 30days)
- Green Id book or Passport ( also Id book for children over age of 16 years)
- Injury on duties must produce a fully completed and signed Employers report (WCL2) and ID book or Passport
We cater for Medical Aid, private and Injury on duty (WCA) cases.
Office hours is from 08h00 – 16h00 Monday through to Fridays and no levy will be charged – after hours and public holidays you will be required to pay a nominal levy that is non refundable from your medical aid and is entirely for your own costs.
Private rates are determined by Management and reviewed from time to time.
We have a resuscitation room that can manage 1 ? 2 Priority 1 patients at a time and we also do suture?s and Plaster of Paris in Casualty. We have 3 other consultation rooms to accommodate less serious patients. All wound care is payable in cash and all extra stock used can be claimed back from the medical aid by the patient.
Once the patient is seen and if the patient need further specialized treatment, he/she will be referred to a relevant specialist.
Patients that do not have medical aids or cash, will be stabilized and transferred to a Provincial hospital via ambulance. The same applies to patients that are not covered in our hospital as the preferred hospital provider; we will stabilize and transfer accordingly.
