Labour Ward

This ward provides care for pregnant woman during Childbirth (also called labour, birth, partus or parturition).

This ward has thirteen (13) beds, three (3) single delivery room, four (4) Single first stage delivery room, two (2) single ante natal rooms and four (4) beds in the C-section for preparation of patient who will be transferred to maternity post delivery.

Our labour wards support women and their partners during labour and birth or, if complications should arise, in the antenatal or postnatal period.  Our team of midwives and obstetricians provide high quality and safe care, individualized to support your needs.

The delivery rooms will make you feel right at home – with a single bed, two sofas and a separate bathroom. All the rooms also have a television set and are fully air conditioned.

The unit utilizes remote beds, an electronically operated CTG machine and electronic IVAC pumps.

So everything is right there when you need it!

This unit has no visiting hours so partners are encouraged to stay with there loved ones throughout the birthing process.

This ward also offers ante natal classes once a week and the classes are presented by RN Regina Ntombeni and she can be contacted on: Tel: 012 336 6336.

Patients should bring the following items on admission:

  • Toiletries and nightclothes
  • 18 disposable diapers
  • Small bottle of surgical spirits
  • Cotton wool balls
  • Aqueous cream
